Tibet has been a province of China for nearly 50 years and includes a portion of Mt. Everest and borders on India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Myanmar (Burma). On July 1, 2006, a new train from Beijing to Lhasa opened and it is the world's highest train climbing to nearly 16,500 feet. Tibet has numerous lakes, rivers, Buddhist temples, and has long been an ideal region for mountain-climbing, exploration, and tourism.
