Myanmar

Myanmar (formerly known as Burma during the English colonial period), was occupied by the Japanese during WW2, became independent in 1948, and has been under military rule since 1988.  It shares borders with India, China, Laos, Thailand, India and Bangladesh.  Myanmar is twice the size of Vietnam and about the size of United Kingdom and France combined.  Within Myanmar lies Mandalay and Yangon (Rangoon),  Lake Inle - the land that time forgot, and the remains of  Bagan - a golden past of 2,000 temples.  Myanmar has a tropical climate with three distinct seasons and the best time to visit is from November to March. The dry season is from April to May, and the rainy season is from May to October.
